Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! At Laramie Animal Welfare Society, our volunteers are invaluable to our operations. We deeply appreciate their dedication and without them, we couldn’t function as effectively. From providing care to our beloved animals, to offering administrative support, and assisting at our events, our volunteers play an essential role in all aspects of our organization.
Join our team of dedicated volunteers and make a hands-on difference in the lives of animals. Your time is a priceless gift!

Questions?
Junior Volunteers
LAWS welcomes youth volunteers age 13-17. For your safety, and for the safety of our cats, we have some restrictions for junior volunteer work:
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
- Any and all volunteers under 18 must always be accompanied by their parent/guardian or a “mentor” who is at least 18 years old for all of their shifts. We want the parent/guardian/mentor to be an equal partner in the junior volunteer’s work. Because of this, the parent/guardian/mentor who will be partnering with the junior volunteer must fill out their section of the application.
- Junior Volunteers will not have access to the door lock.
- All Junior Volunteers must have parental consent via a signature on the statement at the end of the application.
Volunteer Opportunities
Animal Enrichment
Also referred to as socialization, enrichment and behavior (SEB). SEB volunteers interact with the cats in a one-on-one setting to promote social skills and encourage appropriate behavior. They also provide enrichment to the cats through play.
Both facilities offer animal enrichment opportunities.
Donation Assistant
A donation volunteer sorts incoming donations. Donations are washed or laundered before being stored. This position often involves straightening and/or organizing the storage shelves and/or toy bins to accommodate new donations and to maintain neatness.
This position is only available at the main office.
Kennel Care
Kennel care volunteers provide fresh food and water to the cats, clean the kennels and litter boxes, do laundry and dishes, sweep and/or mop the floors. Both facilities have two kennel shifts every day of the year.
Time commitment is 2-3 hours per shift.
This position requires a 3 month commitment
Fundraising
Whether you have a knack for organizing events, engaging with donors, or simply spreading the word, your unique skills will play a crucial role in securing the resources necessary to provide shelter, medical care, and love to animals awaiting their forever homes.
Outreach
If you enjoy interacting with people and seek flexible volunteer options, the Outreach volunteer role presents an excellent opportunity for you to engage! Whether you’re manning information tables or participating in other activities, you can play a crucial role in connecting fellow pet enthusiasts with the diverse services and resources provided by LAWS.
Social Media Guru
- Sharing heartwarming tales and snapshots of our lovable pets waiting for their forever homes.
- Crafting captivating updates to keep our community in the loop about events, success stories, urgent needs, and of course, our adorable adoptable pets.
- Collaborating on the planning and scheduling of posts to ensure our audience stays connected and engaged.
Deep Cleaning
This position is vital to our operations.
Weekly tasks may include changing out the kennel and/or office litter boxes once a week, changing out food and water bowls, sorting the toy bins, sweeping under and behind kennels and storage shelves, and cleaning other areas our kennel care team doesn’t reach during their shift. This position is available at both of our facilities.
